Starker Auftritt! Experimentelles Schuhdesign
Exh. cat. GRASSI Museum für Angewandte Kunst, Leipzig (Bielefeld/Berlin: Kerber Verlag, 2013), p. 139.

Shoes are a source of fascination. This book features more than 100 creations: from the surprising to the bizarre, from dangerous stilettos to shark pumps to sandals made from scrubbing brushes. This catalogue showcases shoes as small-scale works of architecture, shoes with the potential to criticise society, shoes with historical references or shoes that we would scarcely recognise as such. The shoe as a work of art with its own artistic message appears side by side with the shoe as social project or fetish object.
Wearable or not? Given the original designs, this question is only of limited relevance.
“Stepping into the Limelight” presents a comprehensive overview of the contemporary shoe avant-garde and the works of world-renowned artists and designers.
