Since the 1990s, contemporary photography in Sweden has been dominated by female artists who have questioned gender identity. Who were the female artists who paved the way for them? This autumn, the Mjellby Art Museum is answering this question with the exhibition WOMAN. The Feminist Avant-Garde of the 1970s. Works from the SAMMLUNG VERBUND, Vienna and displays photos, videos and films from the most important positions in the international feminist avant-garde taken from the SAMMLUNG VERBUND inventory. For the first time, the 250 pieces by the 26 female artists will be displayed in a Scandinavian museum in Mjellby Art Museum.
