Kochen, Putzen, Sorgen. Care-Arbeit in der Kunst seit 1960
Josef Albers Museum Quadrat Bottrop, October 22, 2023 - March 3, 2024

The Josef Albers Museum Quadrat Bottrop, in cooperation with scholars from the Institute of Art History at the Ruhr University Bochum, is presenting a group exhibition that addresses historical and current issues in artistic discourses around care work. The works presented in Kochen, Putzen, Sorgen. Care-Arbeit in der Kunst seit 1960 are videos, photographs, installations, and paintings by international artists which explore the social, economic, and political meanings as well as the visibility of a form of work that is mostly performed by women. Thus, for the first time, an overview of the artistic preoccupation with care work in a global context is created, which also includes the specific local perspective of the Ruhr region as a "region of work."

With works by: Chantal Akerman, Mirella Bentivoglio, Helen Chadwick, Christa Donner & Gabriele Voss, Mako Idemitsu, Natalia Iguiñiz, Birgit Jürgenssen, Ingeborg Lüscher, Karin Mack, Betye Saar, Gabriele Stötzer and many more.
