TZ'Art & Co gallery is pleased to announce "Sooner or Later", an exhibition by Austrian artist Birgit Jürgenssen.

Birgit Jürgenssen a forty-eight year old artist from Vienna is one of the most important Austrian artists of her generation. As critic Peter Weibel writes "Jürgenssen is a poet who extends through the medium of the body and photography the fields of sculpture and painting, bringing it into a new territory while inventing a new code."

Consistent in her use of feminist iconography, Jürgenssens's work has evolved from Viennese Activism as well as from her previous career as a dancer. Her work is surrounded by an aura of mystery, eroticism as well as illusion demanding an investigative response from the viewer who is  ? meaning from the artist's imagery.

In this exhibition which will function as a historical survey TZ'ART & Co. will show Birgit Jürgenssen's early drawings (from 1974/75), her photographs (1979/80) her drawings body-projections (1987/88) as well as new photoworks. Birgit Jürgenssen has exhibited widely in one-person and group shows in museums and galleries in Europe, and has exhibited in galleries in the United States in 1998, the Linz Museum in Austria will mount an exhaustive survey in her career. mehr
